Judene's 2nd Great Grandparents David Neeley
BEARD and Eralina Amanda IVY were married 28 October 1846 in Marshall
County, Mississippi. David was born about 1820 in Alabama and died in
1898 in Arkansas. David is buried in an unmarked grave in the New
Friendship Cemetery, Tull, Arkansas. Amanda was born about 1832 in
Alabama, the daughter of Silas M. IVY. To this union were born four
children; James Mercer BEARD, born in October 1847; William
Samuel, born about 1850; Caroline, born about 1852; and John,
born about 1856. All probably born in Marshall County, Mississippi. Ages are
estimated in part according to the 1850 Marshall County, Mississippi census.

JAMES & MATTY
Judene's great grandfather, James Mercer BEARD married
twice. First to Judene's great grandmother Martha Ann Elizabeth Hughes
(aka Matty) in about 1869. The second marriage was to Rose Etta Rich on
11 August 1904. Martha Ann died 2 March 1904. James and both
wives are buried in well marked graves at the Fairplay Baptist Church Cemetery,
Saline County, Arkansas. This cemetery is located on the west side of
Interstate 30 at the 105 milage marker, and south of Benton, Arkansas.

James & Martha had eight children; Elizabeth; William
Neeley; Walter Ennis; Almedia Evaline; Samuel Mercer; James
Pinkney; Charley Floyd; and Eunice Clifford.

James & Rose Etta had six children from her second marriage to James
Mercer BEARD; J.M.; Lillian Mae; Lilly Lee; Eddie
Asbury; Oscar Franklin; and Maudie Aline.

James was a medical doctor having received his medical degree from Henderson
State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. James was also a Baptist
pastor. He served in Company H, McGehee's Arkansas Calvary, Confederate States
of America Army during the Civil War. James died 17 February 1917.
Rose Etta was previously married to Dan Shockley and
had five children by that union. These children were Virgie Ann; Felton
T.; Maude Belle; Bascum; and Daniel Andrew

CHARLEY FLOYD & FLORENCE
Charley Floyd BEARD, Judene's grandfather, was born 7 September
1890 in Iko, Arkansas. On 24 April 1910 Charley married Florence
Myrtle TULL in Buna, Jasper County, Texas. Florence was the daughter
of William Abraham TULL and Georgetta FERGUSON. .The union of Charley
Floyd & Florence produced; Gladys Helen; Griffin
Afton; Garland Ray; and an infant unnamed. Charley was a
farmer all his life. Closer to retirement he joined his daughter Gladys
& son-in-law Richard DUNCAN to help operate the DUNCAN &
BEARD General Store in Hensley, Arkansas.

GLADYS & RICHARD
Gladys Helen BEARD, Judene's mother was born 4 March 1913 in
Chilton, Falls County, Texas. The family moved to England, Arkansas where Gladys
graduated from High School. Gladys met & married Richard
Wright DUNCAN on 29 August 1937. To learn more about the family of Richard & Gladys.
