1 CONT    Here's what we found on Rhoda and sister Sally (Sarah).  We've found
1 CONT in our research often that Sarah was a nickname for Sally and vice
1 CONT versa.
1 CONT       The family home of Isaac Goodnight was in Three Forks, Warren 
1 CONC County,
1 CONT Kentucky.  The tall painted monument to Isaac Goodnight is located at
1 CONT the family cemetery at Three Forks (Cemetery location: on Three Forks
1 CONT Road #1089 off Coles Bend Road on the farm of B.M. Smith).  Three of his
1 CONT wives, Elizabeth McMurray, Mary Ground, and Rodah Gadberry, (notice the
1 CONT spelling of Rhoda!) are also buried there.  Isaac's stone lists his
1 CONT birth and death date.  There are 15 known graves in the cemetery.
1 CONT    This is where Sally/Sarah is buried....dates shown are birth-25 Feb

1 CONC a tax list for Lincoln County in 1799, and his marriage to Elizabeth 
1 CONC McMURRY in 1805 is recorded in Mercer County, but he migrated soon 
1 CONC thereafter to Allen County, in southern Kentucky, where he spent the 
1 CONC remainder of his life.  He was married four times, fifteen children were 
1 CONC born to him, and many descendants of his still reside in the vicinity of 
1 CONC SMITH's GROVE. He died in 1869.

1 CONT BIOGRAPHY:  OUR HERITAGE - AN ALBUM OF EARLY WARREN COUNTY, KENTUCKY LAND

1 CONT Irene Moss SUMPTER p71:  "Isaac GOODNIGHT Homestead: "This is probably 
1 CONC one of the oldest homes in Warren County, if not the oldest.  It was 
1 CONC quite a mansion for its day, a two-story structure with eighteen inch 
1 CONC thick walls, two recessed panelled front doors and huge chimneys at each 
1 CONC end.  The inside was built to accommodate boys and girls and keep them 
1 CONC separated as there is a closed stairway on each side and no connecting 
1 CONC door on the second floor.  The massive fireplaces are still there and the 
1 CONC chair rails have remained through the years, as well as the panelling 
1 CONC under the staircases.  The house was built by Isaac GOODNIGHT, a tanner 
1 CONC and farmer by trade and a large slave owner.  His tombstone reveals that 
1 CONC he was born 1782 and tradition in the family is that he was the first 
1 CONC white child born in Kentucky.  In his youth Isaac GOODNIGHT was bound out 
1 CONC to learn the tanner and saddle makers trade, an occupation he continued 
1 CONC until his death.  In 1805 he married Elizabeth McMURRAY, of Mercer County 
1 CONC who was born 1787, a daughter of Thomas McMURRAY, and three years later 
1 CONC moved to Warren County and settled on the north side of Barren River in 
1 CONC an area later called Three Forks.  According to Court Records he began 
1 CONC buying land in 1815.

1 CONT Scotland?  and buried Glasgow, Barren County, KY on the Short Farm.  I

1 CONT know where this was exactly, but there may be land records that will show 
1 CONC it. 
1 CONT  This information came from my Grandmother who is dead.  She was very 
1 CONC close 
1 CONT to her relatives in Barren County and since she was the family 
1 CONC genealogist we 
1 CONT all assumed (BIG mistake!) that she had written down all of the 
1 CONC information 
1 CONT she knew about them.  Of course she didn't, so all we have is the bare 
1 CONT bones.....a few dates and some notes.  She was the last of her generation 
1 CONC to 
1 CONT die, so there is no one to ask.  My sister and I are trying to find 
1 CONT documentation, but it has been a challenge!  My ancestors seem to have 
1 CONC come 
1 CONT from Virginia to Cumberland and Barren Counties.  Some of my family names 
1 CONT are, Short, Arnett, Ritchie, Williams, Carter, Nunn, and Hollingsworth

1 CONT I have tried to find out all I can about brothers and sisters and their 
1 CONT children.  You never know when one of them will have the little tidbit of 
1 CONT information that solves the riddle!  For instance, no one in my family

1 CONC 68-80 about 2 miles out. He owned a mill known as the Short Mill / Creek 
1 CONC Mill/ Denton Mill, etc. Still standing on the property of Martha Reneau 
1 CONC Harrison. Fleming was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church which was 
1 CONC right across Beaver Creek from the Short/Creek/Denton Mill and whose

1 CONC Anyway, I am at my wits end trying to trace one of my lines and wonder if

1 CONC daughter-in-law, Lucy Cochran, signed as witnesses to the Will of James 
1 CONC B. Gadberry.  That document is my only clue as to who Sally Tribble was.  
1 CONC I am hoping that she was a Gadberry before she married a Tribble (I don't 
1 CONC know which Tribble).
